This Saturday our farmer, Mario, will be helping volunteers learn how to prepare soil properly for organic gardening. It’s a great opportunity to get your own hands dirty and to learn something relevant to your own gardening activities (current or future). Official starting time is 8am, but come out to the Farm when you can between 8am and 12pm. There was a great turnout of volunteers last weekend, and the atmosphere was really fun and festive. Bring the children, a hat and pop in for a few minutes or hours.
Organic grapes for sale on Saturday:
We will also have delicious organic green and black grapes for sale on Saturday morning from Eddie Redelinghuys, who is a long-time organic grape farmer from Paarl, and who also owns Reliance Organic Compost (and has donated tonnes of compost to OZCF!). We would be so appreciative, if you would support OZCF by purchasing a box or three. We will be at the Farm from 8am to 1pm on Saturday – simply stop by and have a taste. All proceeds go to support OZCF.
But wait, there’s more… If you are prepared to get your hands dirty at OZCF this Saturday by helping out a bit, Reliance Compost will donate a bag of organic compost, for you to take home.
Lema Civils making the earth move for OZCF…again:
In case you missed your chance in December to see the earthmoving equipment, admire the talent of skilled craftsmen, and shake the hands of the generous folks from Lema Civils, another opportunity awaits you. We are so fortunate to have Horst and his team back on site making miracles happen. If you saw the Farm last week, you’ll hardly recognise it this week – all the paving on pathways and level beds for planting. We encourage you to come out and give a hearty ‘thank you’ to Lema Civils in person!
Hope to see you on Saturday,
The Oranjezicht City Farm Team

Special Thanks!
To Reliance Compost for 100 tons of organic compost delivered to site, to Fiona Macpherson for video footage for a documentary film on OZCF, and to Tania Miglietta for handling OZCF banking and payments! We are all so grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
