Enhance your creativity and skill in drawing while enjoying a morning in the world’s most beautiful outdoor studio! This workshop will focus on drawing in the medium of graphite (e.g., art pencils and similar). Participants will be guided through a series of drawing exercises which will assist them to observe and interpret the subject in a scientific and accurate manner. We will start with making some plein air sketches in the garden, whereupon we will move to the tables and focus on one or two objects to draw in detail. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Beginners encouraged to come!

Materials needed: Cartridge/sketching paper, newsprint paper, 2H, HB, 2B graphite pencils, sharpener/NT cutter knife, putty rubber, eraser.
Award-winning botanical artist, Willie Schlechter, studied Fine Art at Stellenbosch University, graduating with a Masters in Illustration in 2008. After enjoying a career as a high school art teacher, Willie has turned his attention to full-time painting and teaching botanical art workshops privately. His attention to detail and realism has won him awards at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Biennale, the World Orchid Conference and Bottalia, Painted Flora Lucca.
