Have you ever wondered what to do with your left-over food waste? You want to make a difference and help the planet but you aren’t sure how to start? Plant The Seed is a multi-faceted organization based in Muizenberg. Their intention is to educate schools and the public on various sustainable practices they can implement in their own lives to contribute to a healthier world.
The City of Cape Town has aimed to reduce the food waste sent to landfills by 100% by 2027. This is in light of the growing landfill pressure, as well as the many threats, mismanaged food waste poses to our waste management systems.
This workshop aims to inform and equip you with the information and resources to manage food waste in your household. Throughout the session, you’ll be exposed to a variety of ways of managing food waste in the household context, with a large focus on Bokashi as a key method. You’ll also get active by assisting with some small tasks in the composting section of the farm as we explore the ways they run things.
