OZCF began in 2012 on a heritage site on the slopes of Table Mountain, turning an underused space into a thriving 0.25-hectare organic farm and community hub. In its first decade, it created 33 jobs, trained 45 interns, supported 78 community gardens, hosted 7 700 learners, and composted 8 900 tonnes of organic waste, proving that even small pieces of city land can grow food, build community, and inspire change. As part of the SA Urban Food & Farming Trust, our ethos has always been to celebrate local food, culture, and community through urban agriculture. Over the years, we’ve developed a wide range of educational programs, from workshops and internships to hands-on learning experiences with school groups, all aimed at fostering a deeper connection to the natural systems that sustain us.
